SHC of Palm Beach chaplain elected as Archbishop


On Sunday March 22, 2014, in Key Biscayne Florida, The Holy Synod of Orthodox Bishops of the of the Western Rite (American Orthodox Church) gathered for their Conference and elected Bishop Terence Belcher as the new Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Florida and the Caribbean, American Orthodox Catholic Church.

Archbishop Terence was also installed as the Presiding Bishop of the Diocese of Palm Beach, and Auxiliary Bishop of the Old Roman Orthodox Rite. The Archbishop received the blessings of the Patriarch and the Primate as he begins his new duties.

“I was overwhelmed by this election,” says the new Archbishop.

Rev. Fr. Belcher was elected Bishop and Ordained as Bishop in August of 2011.  He was installed as Bishop of Florida and the Caribbean, of the American Orthodox Church. Moreover, Bishop Belcher was named Director of Spirituality for Signature HealthCare in Palm Beach, a Health and Wellness Center.  The Archbishop holds a Doctorate of Divinity, and is a Board Certified Pastoral Psychologist.

Above is the Archbishop’s coat of arms.  The Latin verse in English translates as Second Timothy Chapter 2:1 “Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”
